Top 10 Life Lessons You Must Learn Today

By | September 1, 2016

Although some lessons must be learned through experience, you don’t have to wait until things happen to realize what’s really meaningful and important. Here are the top ten life lessons you must learn right here, right now:

1. Character Is More Important Than Reputation

Your reputation can be destroyed within seconds, while character takes years to build. Consider celebrities involved in scandals who kill their character and reputation with one careless act. Be mindful of whom you’re becoming. Don’t risk it for a reputation that lasts a fraction of the time to build good character.

2. Let Go Of Worry, Fear, And Anxiety

Have you noticed that what you worry about rarely happens? We’re notorious for fabricating stories to protect us in case such events transpire. Yet if we continue down this path, we will attract these circumstances because of the energy devoted to it. Replace negativity with enriching thoughts that bring you closer to the life you wish to live.

3. Make Peace With The Past

To avoid excess baggage in the future, we need to heal the past. You’ve heard it said that the past is a figment of your imagination and no longer exists. Reliving the past derails a bright future because your mind is stuck dwelling on something no longer relevant.

4. Stop Complaining

Don’t be like the howling dog, always howling and never doing anything good. Quir complaining about your problems and work on resolving them, instead. Move forward with self-assurance and confidence.  And remember the old adage, “”If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.”

5. Level Up Your Skills

If you have played video games before, you’ll be familiar with the concept of leveling up – gaining experience so you can become better at what you are doing. All bloggers are constantly leveling up their writing skills. All speakers are constantly leveling up their public engagement abilities. What skills can you level up? I am sure you could find at least ten.

6. Seize the Day

Most people around the world wake up and start chasing their chores because the race has begun with yet another day of a routine existence. Stop! Take a moment to breathe. That moment should be the happiest point of your day. Be grateful that you have woken up today, because many people were not so lucky. Just this simple thought will guarantee a change of energy in your day.

7. Be Kind to Yourself & Others

One of the biggest problems that many people face is the bitterness and resentment they hold towards themselves and others. People have just not learnt how to let go, forgive, and move on. Most take their bitterness and resentment to their graves without realizing that it never even affected the other person and simply poisoned just their lives. We must learn to be kind to ourselves and compassionate with others for all the resentment and bitterness that they hold within them. Doing so will create a lot of positivity within and around us.

8. Burned Bridges Stay with You For Life

In college, it may have been easy to talk behind a roommate’s back, or start an “I hate my prof” club. But when you graduate, you realize how important all relationships, including personal, are. A burned bridge will stay with you forever, and you will learn very quickly that forgiveness is the most important tool for success.

9. Life is Now

When we’re not being mindful, life moves by in the blink of an eye.  We keeping waiting for that amazing thing to happen in the future that will be the key to our happiness. But this is it. Right now. Life continues to be a series of right nows. So learn to love right now, and you’ll have an amazing life.

10. Fear is an Illusion

Most of the things we fear never happen. Or if they do happen, they are rarely as bad as we fear they will be. For most of us, fear is the worst thing that will happen to us. Reality isn’t as painful. Check out these tips on how to cure fear.
